Finding the Right Dosage
It's always best to talk with a doctor concerning the right dosage, which depends on a person's medical history, age and other individual factors.
However, the recommended dosing for Flonase is as follows:
- For adults, the usual starting dose is two sprays in each nostril, once a day. Some people prefer to use one spray in each nostril twice a day (12 hours apart) instead. Once symptoms are under control--after a few days--decrease dosage to one spray per nostril per day. This dose should be all that is needed to maintain nasal symptom control.
- For children between the ages of 4 and 18, the starting dosage should be one spray in each nostril per day. If this dosage doesn't provide relief, the dose can be increased to two sprays per nostril per day. Once symptoms are under control, the dose should be set at one spray per nostril each day.
